The Princeton University Library Chronicle is an interdisciplinary journal sponsored by the Friends of the Princeton University Library and is published at least once a year. Its mission is to publish articles of scholarly importance and general interest based on research in the special collections of the Princeton University Library. The entire archives of the Chronicle (1939-) and its predecessor Biblia (1930-1938) are available, open-access, full-text on JSTOR

Submissions

The Chronicle welcomes proposals for articles relating to all facets of the Library's collections. We also welcome articles relating to the history of the University and the Princeton region. Articles should not have been published previously. Nor can we consider articles that are under review at other publications.

Submission Guidelines

The Chronicle strongly recommends that authors send a proposal or prĂ©cis before submitting a full article. Manuscripts should be prepared according to the editorial rules and forms of citation recommended in the Chicago Manual of Style, 17th Edition (2017). Articles should be between 2,500 and 12,000 words in length, although both shorter and longer articles will be considered. Authors should submit articles in a Microsoft Word document.

Authors are responsible for securing permission to use and reproduce all written and illustrative materials from published sources and/or from owners of unpublished materials. Illustrations that are not the property of the Princeton University Library must be provided by authors, along with proper credit information. Illustrations of materials in the Library's collections will be provided by the Chronicle; authors should provide sufficient description of the materials required. All manuscripts will be reviewed by the Editor, and those meeting the Chronicle's standards will be submitted to anonymous reviewers for final evaluation.
